Recent research has indicated that methylcobalamin, the active form of vitamin B12, supports neurological function and nerve cell health. In studies, methylcobalamin has demonstrated the potential to support healthy cognitive and nerve function as well as memory and emotional well–being. Vitamin B12 is also an important cofactor for energy production and plays a role in immune system health and healthy homocysteine metabolism.
B12 liquid supports nerve cell health, neurological function, energy production and immune system health.
Vitamin B12 is required by a few enzymes in the body, and due to the importance of these enzymes in metabolism their disruption leads to disease states. I have found supplementing with Vitamin B12 effective at lowering homocysteine levels.
You are probably hearing a great deal about methylation in the prevention of disease. Vitamin B12 is important in the process of methylation or methyl donation, a process where a small chemical group known as a methyl group is donated from one molecule to another to support metabolic function.
Vitamin B12 deficiency is known to predispose persons to neural complications (impairment of cognition and neuronal damage) and a form of anemia known as macrocytic anemia which is unique to B12 deficiency.
A protein in gastric secretions called intrinsic factor binds to vitamin B-12 and facilitates its absorption. Without intrinsic factor, only a small percentage of vitamin B-12 is absorbed. This is the reason people with poor digestion and people taking acid suppressing medications are frequently deficient in Vitamin B12. Also, a poor diet high in refined sugars and carbohydrates and many other medications can deplete vitamin B-12.
Given that so many people have poor digestion and/or take medications that can prohibit absorption of vitamin B12, I highly recommend supplementing with B12 liquid by placing one dropperful under the tongue and hold for about 30 seconds. This allows the vitamin B12 to be absorbed directly into the blood stream.
